CRAB šŸ¦€ CURRY

An absolute favourite, served this with hot steamed rice and surmai fish rice. What else do you need on a rainy ā˜”šŸŒ§ļø day. This is Karwar style preparation😊

Ingredients:

Ā· Crab - 7-8 medium sized

Ā· Salt

Ā· Coconut oil – 1 tbsp

Ā· Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)

For curry masala:

Ā· Freshly grated Coconut - 1 cup

Ā· Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp

Ā· Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp (slightly roasted)

Ā· Mustard seeds – ½ tsp (slightly roasted)

Ā· Methi seeds – less than ¼ tsp (slightly roasted)

Ā· Black pepper – 8-10 in nos. (slightly roasted)

Ā· Bedgi Mirchi – 7-8 (slightly roasted)

Ā· Vatehuli (in kannada) – 4-5 (this is used for sourness)

Ā· Garlic - 6-7


Method:

Ā· Clean the crabs and keep it aside.

Ā· To make the masala for the curry, grind all the above ingredients into a fine paste.

Ā· Now take a utensil of your choice, add coconut oil and fry the onions till it is translucent.

Ā· Now add the cleaned crab and cover it with a lid. Keep the flame on medium heat. Add salt.

Ā· Now pour the curry masala and adjust the water as per your preference. Cover and cook,

Ā· Let the curry come to a boil, turn off the flame.

Ā· Serve it hot with steamed rice.
