RED SAUCE PASTA

Kids favorite red sauce pasta is a delicious recipe of pasta and mixed veggies cooked in tangy and sweet tomato sauce. Can make this pasta with or without veggies. Addition of veggies increases the nutrition factor. Have used wheat pasta to prepare this.
Ingredients:
For Boiling Pasta
· Pasta 200 gms (any shape)
· Water
· Salt
· Oil 1 tbsp + 1 tsp (to drizzle on the cooked pasta)
For Red Sauce Pasta
· Olive oil/Oil - 1 tbsp
· Butter (optional)
· Garlic - 5-6 cloves (chopped)
· Onions - 1 medium size (chopped)
· Pasta Sauce – 1.5 tbsp (Ready ones)
· Tomato ketchup - 2 tbsp
· Broccoli florets blanched– 1/3 cup (optional)
· Mushroom – 1/3 cup (optional)
· Coloured Peppers – 1/3 cup (optional)
· Basil leaves
· Oregano - 1 tsp
· Red chilli flakes - 1 tsp
· Black pepper - ¼ tsp
· Cheese
· Salt
Method:
For boiling pasta
· Set the water for boiling, add salt and 1 tsp oil, when the water comes to a boil, add the pasta and cook for 6-8 minutes or until al dente. Cooking time may depend upon the pasta you are using.
· Immediately strain the pasta and drizzle 1 tsp oil, toss well and keep it aside.
For Red Sauce Pasta
· Set a sauce pan on low heat, add oil and chopped garlic, cook until the garlic starts to get some colour.
· Now add chopped onions and cook on medium flame until its translucent.
· Add the pasta sauce and ketchup, fry it for some time.
· Now add the coloured peppers, sauté it for 3-4 minutes.
· Add other veggies of your choice, add basil leaves, oregano, chili flakes, black pepper and give a good mix. If required add little water.
· Now add the cooked pasta and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
· Grate generous amount of cheese to make it more yum.
· Your red sauce pasta is ready to be served hot.
