Kadale soppu in kannada, a winter special veggie full of health benefits. Harbhara leaves are very nutritious. It is a rich source of energy, proteins, mineral, vitamins and fibres too.



Ingredients:

·       Ghee/ Oil - 1 tbsp

·       Cumin seeds – ¾ tsp

·       Whole spices

  • 1 - Black Cardamom

  • 2 – Small Cardamom

  • Cinnamon sticks – 1 inch

  • Star anise – 1

  • Clove – 4-5

  • Bay leaf - 1

·       Onion – 1 big (sliced)

·       Green Vatan (freshly prepared)

  • Green chilies – 2 -3

  • Ginger – 1 inch

  • Garlic - 7-8

  • Coriander leaves – handful

  • Grated coconut – 1 tbsp

  • Ola Hara bhara – 1 tbsp

·       Veggies

  • Ola Harbhara (Fresh) – ¾ cup

  • Potato – 1 diced

·       Red chili powder – 1 tsp

·       Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

·       Coriander powder – 1 tsp

·       Salt to taste

·       Pinch Sugar

·       Goda Masala – 1.5 tsp

·       Water

·       Lemon – ½

·       Rice - 1 cup

 

Method:

·       Wash the rice and soak it for 10-15 mins.

·       For the green vatan now take a mixer jar add green chilies – 2 -3, ginger – 1 inch, garlic - 7-8, coriander leaves – handful, grated coconut – 1 tbsp and ola (fresh) Hara bhara – 1 tbsp.

·       Now take a big kadai add ghee/ oil, cumin seeds and whole spices.

·       Now add the Green vatan, fry it well till the raw smell goes away.

·       Add the veggies and mix it well. Add the powdered spices. Pour hot water. Squeeze in lime juice and add little sugar to balance the taste.

·       Once the water comes to a boil add washed and soaked rice.

·       Cover it with a lid, keep it on low flame for 8-10 mins.

·       Turn off the flame and open the lid after 5-6 mins.

·       Your Hara Bhara Masala Bhaat is ready to be served hot with curd, pickle and papad of your choice.
